Edible DNA Models

2/27/14
The students are currently learning about genes and DNA, so we made edible models of DNA in class today! It was important that the students showed the phosphate and sugar bonds on the sides of the double-helix, and the four bases paired in the middle "rungs". Each color represents a different "part" of a DNA molecule. The orange pieces are the sugar molecules, and the white are the phosphate molecules. The purple, red, yellow, and green represent the four different bases: A, T, G, U. These models turned out amazing. Lots of fun learning in class today!
