About ToolboxToolbox is a new curriculum we have adopted K-6 at Lake school. This is a social/emotional curriculum that focuses on helping people find their inner "tools" to help them cope with life's everyday ups and downs. According to Dovetail Learning's website, "TOOLBOX™ gives children, teachers, parents, and schools a common language and the Tools necessary to form a cohesive, collaborative, non-violent, and caring community which leads to hope for a meaningful and positive future." Dovetail Learning also shares, "TOOLBOX™ is a research-based, community-tested Kindergarten through sixth grade social and emotional learning (SEL) program. Our work dovetails perfectly with schools’ efforts to foster healthy, holistic development and well-being in children and the entire school community." Our hope is that Toolbox will help our students become even more effective citizens with a better sense of their inner "tools" for success. Ask your child about what they've learned about Toolbox so far! Click here for our classroom Bill of Rights! Our students helped create this set of rights and responsibilities. They made suggestions for what they hoped to have in their classroom for a successful sixth grade year. |
